Cheviot Top—Gummi Bear

from 24.84

Gummi Bear—bright pink, orange, aqua, and pistachio.

    •    100% Cheviot wool top
    •    hand-dyed with professional-grade acid dyes

Cheviot sheep (of which there are several varieties) originally come from the Cheviot Hills, on the border between England and Scotland. They have white faces, Roman noses, and alert, upright ears. Cheviots produce 5-14 lb. fleeces with a typical micron range between 27 and 33. Their wool has a three-dimensional crimp unique to Cheviots, which gives yarns spun from their wool resilience and bounce. Expect your handspun from this top to be crisp and sturdy. Though they likely won't be suitable for next-to-skin wear, Cheviot yarns are great for long-wearing sweaters and socks, and might be used to weave durable blankets or pillow covers.

I use only professional grade acid dyes that are light-fast and wash-fast, and I strive to run my dye studio in an environmentally-sensitive way.
